Thank you for choosing to support our work!

Your help allows us to continue our lifesaving work, creating a safe space for gulls in Sussex. There are so many ways you can support us. No matter how much you can give, your kindness makes such a difference!

Find out how we need your help and how to donate below.

Our main aviary is in need of another covered area to provide nesting sites for our resident gulls. We have seven pairs of gulls in the main aviary creating nesting sites every year but we desperately need another area as the more dominant gulls continue to take over the whole area, stressing the other couples.

Steven has special needs. Upon his arrival to Bird Aid, Steven had multiple breaks in his legs which healed. However, Steven then lost his foot. To add to his disability, Steven only has one good, working wing. It would be cruelty to release a gull with these disabilites. So, Steven will live out his life with us at Bird Aid. However, due to his disability, he needs his own aviary.

Buttercup was shot, and has an infected leg. Buttercup is relatively new to us here at Bird Aid but, having watched her carefully, she is of a simlar character to Steven. With both unfit for release, we hope the pair will bond, as we are very aware that Steven misses his previous partner.

Our total cost for the aviary is £2000. With both having disabilities, the aviary must cater to their needs. Funding for the new aviary will cover the materials needed to erect the aviary, with the bulk of the cost being spent on the ground work and drainage.

Steven and Buttercup await a new, purpose-built, aviary to cater to their needs.

Did you know, it costs us thousands of pounds every year to feed the birds in our care?! With just £1 you can help us feed one of the birds in our care for a day. Or £7 for a week!
